Read a bunch of articles about welfare reform. Wrote about the government’s efforts to coerce women living in poverty to get married. Spent the subway ride home thinking about where I’m going to find a hammer big enough to smash patriarchy.

Sketched an outline for a chapter on the perils of fatherhood promotion programs. Wrote a few pages on the millions and millions of dollars the government and universities spend on fatherhood promotion programs every year. Added Queens to my deck of library cards.

Got back in the writing saddle. Read too many articles equating single motherhood with parental instability. Realized the literature review for this chapter is going to have to be written with a drink in hand.
